Rough Edit

This is our rough edit of our thriller opening, without credits, music, transitions or filters. Almost just an ordered, basically cut set of shots.

Shot List

Our thriller opening consisted of numerous camera angle shots to ensure we can establish numerous points are established to the audience, for example;

- Mid-shot: The mid-shot works well as it is intent to deliver information on our character Patson whilst still leaving information to the audiences imagination.

- High angle shot: This shot is effective in establishing Patson as the key character to our opening, whilst also having the audience view Patson as vulnerable and unsure of himself.

- Low Angle Shot: This shot effectively captures the sheer enormity of our main character Patson, whilst also portraying the difficulty he has in being lost in the massive complex.

- Over The Shoulder Shot:  This shot effectively utilises the rule of thirds and captivates what our main character is focusing on. Whilst also capturing the fact he is alone in this complex.

- CCTV camera shot: This we feel is very effective in establishing the possibility the thriller opening subject is being monitored my life elsewhere. It also provides a totally different camera angle to our thriller opening.

- Close Up shot: This shot is effective in displaying certain features of our character to the audience. It also really captured the emotion of our character through Patson's acting in his facial expression.

- The Wide-Shot: We feel this shot is useful in our tracking it allows our subject to walk across the room and it allows us to incorporate a phone ringing.

Letter To Actor

Hello Mr Travers

I'm writing this letter to inform you about the film we've casted you in. We start filming at St. Mark's catholic school on Monday the 2nd of March. You will be playing the main and only character in the opening. You will be stuck in a paradox of doors and have to seem frustrated at the situation you're in. Whilst going through the doors, in the back of your mind you need to be paranoid due to a feeling of you being watched. We've chosen you to take up this role as we feel you suit the image of the character we had planned. All we ask is you wear a shirt and suit trousers as costume, scruffy but smart, to further develop your role. We look forward to seeing you there.

Kind regards, Mac Entertainment.

Costume

THE COSTUME AND ITS MEANING

In our thriller opening the character is dressed in a shirt and formal trousers. This conveys that he is a businessman of some sort or even a teacher. The character is clearly quite young, he looks about 18 or 19, so the fact that he has an adult-like costume on will prompt the audience to ask the question of why he isn't dressing like his age. In the actual plot he is a 35 year old man who has a succession of dreams where he is back in his 18 year old body and back at his former secondary school, but still wearing his present day costume, which explains why the young actor is wearing adult-like clothes. The scruffy look of the character eludes his frustration and panic as he wakes up and surveys his surroundings, then begins to realise he is back in his old school. The untucked shirt, and rolled up sleeves hints to the audience that he is out of place but determined to get out of this place.

PLOT CHANGE

We Have Changed the Plot.

We have decided to branch off from the original plot in order to make our storyline more realistic and more interesting to watch. We feel that the new storyline has a more original plot and leaves a lot of red herrings to make the viewer want to watch on. We are redoing a number of the blogs to match the new storyline and they will be uploaded after this blog.
